Tuesday, September 13th, 2011

Larry,

Thanks for your inquiry and the opportunity at earning your business. I’m not real sure what you mean by that however there certainly still is a water pump used with the closed systems.  Using the link below to our Technical Article Library you can read several articles regarding the closed cooling systems and how they function. You can then add your selected product(s) to your shopping cart and the shipping estimator located at the bottom of the shopping cart page will give you a shipping cost based on your specific postal code. Let me know if you need any further technical information or help placing your order. In either case I will be glad to assist!

is there any problem with salt water circulation now that there is no water pump, I am assuming the exhaust draw is enough?

Mike,

Thanks for your inquiry and the opportunity at earning your business. Ultimately it depends on the level of Hp the engine will be making. The MFH-4949 or the MFH-5374 kits would be fine so long as your engine does not exceed 450 – 475 Hp. Using the link below you can add your selected product(s) to your shopping cart and the shipping estimator located at the bottom of the shopping cart page will give you a shipping cost based on your specific postal code. Subject: Product Lead Question: Mercruiser 1987 thru 1996 Big Block V8 with V-Belts *Standard Capacity* (Half System) (#MFH-4949)

Mike writes:

I have a 1996 Mercruiser 502 Magnum MPI Gen V engine with Stainless Marine 4″ transom exhaust and a Bravo 1 outdrive. Is the MF4949 the correct fwc setup for my engine or do I need the full system. The engine is currently being completely rebuilt with more horsepower. Just want to make sure I’ll be purchasing the right system from you since currently my engine only cools with a raw water setup. Thank you, Mike
